Woodcock & Wilson – Industrial Fan Solutions for Marine & Energy Applications

Oceania Engineering Services is proud to partner with Woodcock & Wilson, headquartered in Huddersfield, United Kingdom, supporting their range of high-performance industrial fans and offering licensed local manufacturing capability for the Australasian marine, energy and offshore markets.

Woodcock & Wilson design and manufacture bespoke industrial fan solutions engineered for demanding environments, including offshore oil and gas facilities, marine vessels, energy infrastructure and hazardous industrial installations. Their portfolio includes centrifugal, axial and bifurcated fans, each custom-built to suit specific project conditions, duty requirements and hazardous area classifications.

Woodcock & Wilson’s fan range is recognised as one of the most comprehensively certified in the world, with the complete range covered by IECEx and independently third-party ATEX certification where required. This depth of certification provides confidence for operators and EPC contractors working within strict hazardous area and regulatory frameworks.

As a licensed manufacturing partner, OES combines Woodcock & Wilson’s established fan design expertise with our own offshore HVAC and hazardous area experience. Leveraging this partnership, OES is the first company in Australia to fabricate fully third-party certified IECEx Ex h industrial fans, in accordance with the ISO/IEC 80079-36 and ISO/IEC 80079-37 requirements for non-electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres. Ex h construction addresses mechanical ignition risks and is prescribed under the current ISO/IEC explosion protection framework governing hazardous area mechanical equipment. This capability provides clients with a fully certified solution aligned with contemporary IECEx requirements, strengthening local availability of compliant explosion protected fan solutions for offshore and energy applications.

Together, this partnership enables the delivery of technically robust, fully certified fan solutions tailored for marine, offshore and energy sector applications across Australia and the wider region.

IECEx Fans

An IECEx certified fan provides complete assurance that the fan has been independently tested and certified by an approved IECEx Certification Body (ExCB).

This certification guarantees the fan’s safety, compliance with international Ex safety standards, and suitability for operation in hazardous environments, including those with explosive gases, vapours, or combustible dust. By choosing IECEx, you benefit from rigorous third-party validation, ensuring reduced risk and the elimination of the need for costly additional testing.

Tank Vent Fans

We provide a portable, electrically driven fan to support operations when carrying out safety critical cleaning of storage holds and tanks. These units are independently IECEx and/or ATEX Certified.

The TVF is a cost effective centrifugal fan with high performance for the introduction of fresh air for safe working environmental and gas freeing of oil and chemical tanks. Fans are fully portable so can be used on numerous vessels.

Ex-Stream Portable Fans

ExStream fans are the World’s first range of independently dual certified IECEx/ATEX portable ventilation fans which are certified to both Electrical & Non-Electrical standards.

The ExStream fan range offers global safety solutions for hazardous area ventilation. Providing a new generation in ventilation safety without compromise. The high performing compact and durable industrial design provides an efficient solution to confined space ventilation for hazardous areas.

IIC Hydrogen Fans

What is a IIC Fan?
A IIC fan is a type of ventilation fan specifically designed to operate in environments where hydrogen gas is present. Hydrogen is highly flammable and requires specially designed equipment to ensure safe operation. IIC fans are engineered to prevent ignition sources, reducing the risk of explosion in hazardous areas.

IIC fans are used in various applications where hydrogen gas might be present, including:

  • Wind turbines with energy storage systems to store surplus energy.

  • Hydrogen generation and fuel cell systems.

  • Hydrogen filling stations.

  • Hydrogen distribution and storage plants.

  • Battery rooms for backup and uninterruptible power supplies.

Axial fans are available in two configurations, one with the outer casing covering the complete impeller and motor, (long cased variant) and the short cased type.

These fans are offered with a choice of impeller pitch and materials of construction offering great flexibility for use in numerous environments, including Hazardous Areas.
